Reno County Jail Roster

The Reno County, Kansas jail roster is a public resource that allows anyone to check if a specific person is in custody at the county correctional facility. Public information about current and recent inmates can be found on the RenoCourt.us website. Additional data is available through the official inmate information page on the Reno County Sheriff's Office website, as well as by phone or during an in-person visit to the facility. The roster is maintained by the Reno County Sheriff's Office and is updated regularly. This tool provides transparency in law enforcement operations and allows citizens, attorneys, and relatives to quickly ascertain the custody status of an individual.

Search Current Inmates in Reno Jail

To find information about a person currently in custody at the Reno County Corrections Facility (RCCF), use one of the methods below.

Online Search

  1. Go to RenoCourt.us to search for public court and correctional information.
  2. Visit the Inmate Information page on the official county website — it contains links to the inmate roster and the Kansas VINE system for tracking custody status.
  3. If the roster is displayed as a list, use the browser's search function (Ctrl+F / Cmd+F) to find the last name.

You will need:

  • The person's full legal name (last name and first name)
  • The booking number, if known

Records of juvenile offenders are not displayed in the public roster — this restriction is in place according to Kansas laws on the protection of juvenile data. Juvenile case documents are also not available through the public portal of the district court.

By Phone

Call the county correctional facility directly. The operator can confirm if a specific person is in custody if you provide the full name or booking number.

In-Person Visit

You can approach the lobby of the correctional facility or the visitor information window.

Reno County Corrections Facility (RCCF)
206 W 1st AvenueHutchinson, KS 67501Phone: (620) 694-2735

Visitor hours and lobby schedule may change — check by phone before visiting. The sheriff's office is located at the same address, so general public safety inquiries can also be directed there via the Sheriff's Office page.

Find Reno Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created every time a person is officially admitted to a correctional facility. This is not the same as a court sentence — booking records the fact of being taken into custody.

During the booking process, the following data is generated:

  • Unique booking number
  • Date and time of admission
  • Charges presented
  • Name of the agency that made the arrest (sheriff, Hutchinson police, etc.)
  • Basic identification information of the detainee

Most of this information is displayed in the public inmate roster on the county's website. If you need more detailed information — such as a copy of the arrest report or a full list of charges — submit a request for public records. The Records page on the official county website explains how to submit such requests. For state-level criminal history checks, there is a separate tool — the Kansas Criminal History Record Search through the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI).

If the person has already been transferred to a Kansas Department of Corrections facility, their data can be found through the KASPER system. This database covers inmates serving state-level sentences, not county jail.

Search the Reno Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The roster supports two main search methods.

Search by Last Name

Enter the person's last name. You can also specify the first name to narrow the results. Some practical tips:

  • Check the spelling — even one letter can affect the result.
  • If the last name is common (e.g., Smith or Johnson), be sure to add the first name.
  • Try just the last name if you are unsure of the exact spelling of the first name.

Search by Booking Number

This method is the most accurate. The booking number is a unique identifier assigned during admission to the facility. It eliminates confusion with people who have the same name.

What to Do If the Search Yields No Results

  1. Ensure the name is spelled correctly, and try variations (nicknames, hyphens).
  2. The person may have already been released — the roster only shows those currently in custody.
  3. There may be a delay between the arrest and the appearance of the record in the online roster — try again later.
  4. Call the facility at (620) 694-2735 and inquire directly.

The Kansas VINE system, mentioned on the inmate information page, also works for real-time custody status tracking. VINE allows crime victims to receive automatic notifications about changes in the detainee's status.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Reno

The inmate roster is updated periodically throughout the day, but it is not instantaneous. There is usually a delay between the actual booking and the appearance of the record on the site — from a few minutes to several hours, depending on the facility's workload and time of day.

Main limitations to be aware of:

LimitationExplanation
Delay after BookingThe record may not appear in the roster immediately after arrest. The processing procedure takes time.
Record Disappearance after ReleaseWhen a person is released, their data is usually removed from the current roster. The roster is not an archive.
MinorsRecords of individuals under 18 are not published.
Data Entry ErrorsSometimes there are typographical errors in names or dates, complicating the search.

The roster reflects only the current custody status at the Reno County Corrections Facility. It is not a database of all past arrests or convictions. For historical criminal record data at the state level, use the criminal history check tool through KBI or contact the 27th Judicial District Court for court case searches.

If you did not find the information you need online — a phone call to the facility remains the most reliable way to get up-to-date information about a specific person.
